Alliance of the sacred suns torrent6/3/2023 These interstellar spies can be dispatched into rival houses to covertly monitor their activity or perform heavier handed actions such as assassinations. Like Crusader Kings, Alliance has an entire system dedicated to subterfuge, which revolves around characters known as “Inquisitors”. In which case, a subtler approach might be required. But it’s unlikely you’ll be able to do this early on. If you’re powerful enough, you could simply force their house leader into exile or remove them for their post. More belligerent houses are trickier to deal with. These House Heads can then be stuffed into the Galactic Council, where they can influence votes on issues such as whether to cap domestic spending, or whether to curtail the Emperor’s power. Friendlier houses can be brought into the fold with compliments, support for their projects, and the occasional bribe. The point is they don’t like you, which will affect your approach to uniting them (though sometimes vendettas can be resolved simply by saying sorry, which is nice). The reasons for behind these vendettas are not made clear by Alliance, which is a shame, but it also doesn’t matter. Some will be friendly or indifferent toward you, while others will have vendettas or may have even sworn vengeance against you. Your relationships with the various houses don’t start off equal. To that end, one of your most important goals is surveying the political landscape between you and the other Great Houses. There will always be more problems than you can effectively deal with, so you need to focus on what needs to be done, what can be most realistically achieved, and what will best benefit both you and the Empire. Keep a close eye on this one for more news and updates.Although this was annoying, it taught me the first rule of running an Empire: learn who to ignore. The graphics look great, the story is compelling, and its sci-fi setting is always great with these types of games. If you're a big fan of grand strategy games that utilize the 4X gameplay mechanic, Alliance of the Sacred Suns is a great title to consider when it comes out. Should that timeframe change, you can know about it via its Steam page. As of this writing, it's planned for Q1 2022. Now, when it comes to an official release, this is where things get vague. You even get mod support, which is always a nice bonus. It also places emphasis on your actions and decisions as they affect how the story progresses. Think carefully about your appointed officials as they are crucial in exercising your limited will and achieving your goals. The noble houses have all the power and influence, and it's up to you to do what's right for your people and the empire. As you ascend to the throne, you'll deal with hidden agendas, schemers, and make hard decisions for the sake of your people and the future.Īlliance of the Sacred Suns places you in the role of a ruler, and all the duties and perils that come with the position. The Great Noble Houses are all competing for control, and you are at the center of it all. Alliance of the Sacred Suns is set a thousand years into the future wherein humanity's last great empire is on the brink of collapse.

Deep dreamer mrs pacman6/3/2023 We would have had all kinds of people talking about the fact that they had a baby out of wedlock, which would have been very bad.” As Macrae later recalled, “omeone pointed out to us that in the third animation (the cartoons between levels of the games) Pac-Man and the female Pac-Man get together and have a baby. The programmers then realized that name might not work either. However, in the 72 hours before production on the sequel began, Midway marketers changed her planned name of Pac-Woman-which would have kept the Pac-Man brand intact-to Miss Pac-Man. Pac-Man’s name comes from the original title Puck-Man and the term “paku paku,” a Japanese slang term or gesture for eating or gobbling. HER NAME (AND MARITAL STATUS) CHANGED THREE TIMES BEFORE LAUNCH. Pac-Man got the #10 spot, and earned the praise that it "trumped in nearly every way." ( Pac-Man did receive, at least, a respectable ranking of #52). In 2009, the magazine Game Informer compiled a “Top 200 Games of All Time” list. However, other critics at that time suggested that the wildly popular game’s central premise-eating-accounted for its universal draw. Pac-Man is imagining she is being pursued by the wild males until she turns around and captures them. Pac-Man was a spin-off, but we also wanted to say thank-you to women who had started playing Pac-Man."Ĭontemporary critics suggested that the perceived female appeal of games like Pac-Man and Kangaroo-ones that arcade owners saw women and girls playing-had to do with their relative non-violence, among other things: "From a pop psychological point of view, I have heard it said that Pac-Man imitates courtship and mating," Joyce Worley, senior editor for Electronic Games, said in 1982. "Until Pac-Man came around, we couldn't get women to play the games," James Jarocki, advertising promotion manager for Ball Midway, said in 1982. She was part of a push to get women into gaming. Instead of risking similar litigation from Namco, the Japanese company behind Pac-Man, GCC sold Crazy Otto to Midway Manufacturing Co., Pac-Man’s North-American distributor, which was eager for a sequel to capitalize on the original game’s popularity. While the pair was working on developing Crazy Otto, Atari hit them with a lawsuit over Super Missile Attack, an earlier game modification that upgraded existing Atari Missile Command arcade units for faster, more difficult gameplay. First there was Crazy Otto, who had legs and chased monsters-not ghosts-around Pac-Man’s levels. Pac-Man as an enhancement kit for Pac-Man arcade games. MIT students Kevin Curran and Doug Macrae of the General Computer Corporation (GCC) first developed Ms. In the early days of arcade games, programmers created new games by modifying existing cabinets. Pac-Man herself sang out during 1982 TV commercials, she was “more than Pac-Man with a bow.” 1. In 1982, another circle rolled onto the scene and upped the ghost-chasing ante-and, as Ms. In 1980, a hungry yellow disc swallowed the hearts of gamers worldwide and set off years’ worth of Pac-mania. Doubletake carbonite6/3/2023 “We have open positions for software developers, testers, product managers and more. “From the high availability functionality that we bring, to data and server backup provided with our other products, such as Evault, the things we do are complex and they require the best problem solvers. “In terms of uniqueness, I’m really excited about the fact that Carbonite pulls together a full range of data protection technologies,” said Rob Beeler, now serving as vice president, Carbonite. Carbonite calls it “any-to-any,” and while there are products that fail over for a virtual server or a particular physical server, Carbonite says its any-to-any High Availability product is the only one on the market that can both replicate and fail over between any of those platforms. Of note: Carbonite’s High Availability product (originally developed in Indianapolis) offers the option to fail over to the backup at a moment’s notice, with no human interaction and virtually no interruption in service, across all physical, virtual, and cloud platforms. Today, the unified employees and assets are all converging under the Carbonite brand they are focused on leading the way for disaster recovery and migration for the cloud across all platforms and industries and they are hiring up to 20 top-performing tech pros for new positions in Indianapolis before the end of the year. While DoubleTake has been a force in data protection since Rob Beeler founded it in a spare bedroom of his house in 1995, out-of-state ownership and no real need for local marketing prevented the brand from gaining much notoriety in its Hoosier hometown. With the January acquisition of DoubleTake Software, Carbonite added the 70-person R&D operation based in Indianapolis and a powerful, established array of business products to its data protection arsenal. In 2011, the company launched its first small business offering, and Carbonite has been successfully moving up-market into the business data protection space ever since. Originally focused on PCs and home office backup, Carbonite quickly became a leading consumer-tech brand name known for making it easy to recover all of your files should the worst happen. Nowhere is that more obvious than within the tech community, which has amassed more than 20 acquisitions or IPOs over the last 10 years and unleashed $7 billion in market value.Ĭarbonite (NASDAQ: CARB) - the Boston-based data protection company named after the fictional substance used to freeze Han Solo in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back - is one of several major tech brands like Salesforce and Genesys that is counting on the talent and innovation generated here in Indianapolis to play a big part in the company’s global future. No need for manual COGS formula calculations or cross-referencing multiple spreadsheets from different departments. What’s more, SOS Inventory will update your QuickBooks Online account to ensure your ledger reflects your actual inventory costs on hand, giving you timely information at your fingertips. SOS Inventory records inventory costs and quantities at every stage so you can easily generate a report for any product to determine costs for the time period selected. Tracking cost of goods sold, gross profits and revenue available for overhead is simple to do with SOS Inventory. Normal accounting practices indicate the accrual of COGS during the same period as when they are sold. As sales increase so, too, do the costs of goods sold because costs will continue to be tied to selling those products. Understanding the actual cost of goods sold allows your business to do a better job of pricing product or staying aware when costs to produce that product change. COGS is tied directly to inventory quantities and therefore can vary if the costs to sell an individual unit change. Overhead is calculated separately as these costs tend to be regular monthly costs such as rent, electricity, internet service, etc. If referring to a manufacturer, these costs can include ingredients or parts, labor, assets, storage, and shipping. These costs will vary from one business to another. In accounting, costs of goods sold reveals the costs associated with generating revenue from a product. If the business starts off with 100 units, then buys 50 units and sells 25 units, the cost of goods sold is the cost of 100 units plus the cost of 50 units less the cost of 25 units which equals the cost of 125 units. The extensive reporting SOS Inventory provides exceeds cost of goods software feature needs.Ī cost of goods sold formula example is as follows: SOS Inventory makes it even easier with COGs software functionality built in. To calculate the cost of goods sold, you will attribute accumulated direct costs with each inventory stage. The Cost of Goods Sold Formula:īeginning Inventory (inventory at the beginning of the time period) + Purchased Inventory (inventory acquired during the time period) – Ending Inventory (inventory left at the end of the time period) = Cost of Goods SoldĪll the above figures in the COGS equation should represent the same time period, i.e., calculate these numbers on a monthly, quarterly, or yearly basis for the same dates. All these costs should be proportionately added to the cost of each product sold when tracking inventory movement at your business however, overhead costs are not calculated into COGS. Between the time goods are received and delivery of the product to the customer, the business incurs direct expenses which include cost of raw materials, labor, assets, etc. The cost to complete a sale to the customer exceeds the cost of acquiring the product (or materials to make that product). Applying a COGS formula to determine profitability is useful in evaluating business costing methods. Samorost 1 trailer6/3/2023 The player would then be rewarded with gentle humor, a funny animation accompanied by sounds. The game’s key gameplay mechanic was inspired by a puzzle featured in Samorost 3, one of Amanita’s previous titles, in which players were required to solve a problem by experimenting with the interaction of various playing cards. It tells the story of Tramp, Granny, Bandit and Devil, four different characters each with their own quirks and perks, who eventually end up roaming the land together, dealing with strangers and helping each other out. Pilgrims is a short non-linear adventure game set in a charming little kingdom, inspired by old Central and Eastern European fairy tales and, partially, John Steinbeck’s books. I am pleased to announce that our latest game Pilgrims is now available on Steam! Thank you for supporting our games! We're looking forward to hear and read what you think about Creaks. Instruments Joe used on this soundtrack, his first-ever work for a video game, are ranging from zithers and flutes to organs and choirs to modular synthesizers. He delivered an eclectic score that adaptively changes based on your progression within each of the game’s levels and often drops the beat to celebrate the moment you finally figure it out. The visual art goes hand-in-hand with music from Brighton-based composer and multi-instrumentalist Joe Acheson, aka Hidden Orchestra. About a third of the 35 collectible pieces are playable mini-games, taking on the role of little arcade cabinets in the aesthetic of 18th and 19th-century wall art.Ī game inspired by the topics of ambiguity and pareidolia - the psychological phenomenon of “seeing things” - Creaks aims to surprise players with its diverse surreal environments, hand-drawn, hand-painted, and carefully animated, as well as refined puzzles. Inbetween individual levels and challenges, players will get to explore the house for a series of hand-crafted paintings, some of which were carefully hidden in discoverable secret rooms. Players will meet several types of creaks in the game, and each of them behaves differently - while dogs will chase you on sight and spies will copy or mirror your movement, the jellyfish-like creatures composedly patrol the area. However, as soon as you manage to trap them under a beam of light, they transform into harmless furniture that might be just as useful when you’re solving many of the game’s elaborate puzzles. In their animated form, these monsters called creaks are deadly enemies you should always keep your distance from. I am excited to finally let you know that Creaks, our latest surreal puzzler, is launching on Steam next Wednesday, July 22! Lao gan ma chili crisp6/3/2023 No likes on Twitter, I don't take it that personally. Are my friends? Were my friends? They hover adjacently. And those people are supposed to be my friends. but what they really cared about were my thoughts on chili crisp.įacebook hurts because when I share things there - stories, strange thoughts - I don't feel like people respond. I regularly post articles on VR headsets, watches, iPads, games. When I realized everything bagel spice and chili crisp were both umami, I thought: Why not chili crisp on bagels, too? Things evolved (or devolved) quickly after that. I started using chili crisp the same way. I added sambal to fried rice, eggs, all sorts of things. I specifically bought sambal oelek, which is wonderfully profiled here. Sambal, a tangy chili sauce, has a totally different profile. 15, 2020: Ramen, egg, spam, Lao Gan Ma chili crisp.Ĭhili crisp wasn't the first condiment I stocked up on during the pandemic. The first thing I remember putting it in was a bowl of ramen with spam and a fried egg. I also took a photo of it next to a jar of everything bagel seasoning, which had been my previous comfort souvenir. Why did I share it? Thank you, chili crisp.Ĭhili crisp is bits of chili and onion fried in oil, more or less. What I didn't expect is that it would resonate with my friends, reconnect me with old acquaintances, and provide a spark of kinship that's helped me endure my year away from so many people. Instead of dreaming of Sichuan food I could no longer eat in restaurants, maybe I could just try having some of the flavors on hand. But I also realized I was cooking all the time, ordering everything I needed online and never going to stores, and I had completely avoided restocking my spices. This company and its condiments had already become a pandemic trend then. My love affair began last summer, back when isolation had only been happening for a few months, yet still felt like forever. Sometimes I'm late to discoveries, or right on time. An idea floats up out of the sea of tweets. So things go in the pandemic time: fuzzy memories out of time, stuff absorbed from social feeds. The look of the jar reminded me of something. I think it was some article, a tweet, realizing it was already a trend somewhere. How did my yearlong relationship with chili crisp start? I'm not really sure anymore. |
